When I close my eyes
something emerges..

an after thought
en route to an existence
of time frayed and forgotten..
a life betrayed.. wasted-
an instant of a tragic review
in detail.

The dread and doubt
of not knowing who I am..
and I am gone..
gone beyond recall

Light cannot reach so far-

How faultless the spangled city lies..
how bright the star lit sky..
how sweet the breeze
yet I know what under all the seeming beauty lies..
and the waves crash..

Treachery consumes me
and I'm lead to pass along the weary way
of all I've known..
where instinct swallows destiny
and buries free will.

I wade through the broken glass
of a mind that is not calm-
every nepenthean teardrop
leaves me stranded
in a sea of dillusion..
totally lost..
beyond all recall.

Shards of a wasted existence stranding you in a lost world of disillusionment? The answer to a better life lies within you. Find it, Billy, find it.

great poem man. it seems funny that sometimes we try to get lost, others we try to find our way back...but can't.

A poetic journey of the mind and heart and soul, i envisioned you walking this road of many yesterdays, hot summery afternoons
in a gate of turmoil, yet you made it this far, beautiful triumph, and a great write . . .

I can see the storm churning up the waves of disolusionment. What's needed is a river of calm, streaming in to calm the waters and bring a pool of hope

Wow my friend...this is despair at it's finest...The moment...the emotion...you caught it alright. Well done on a very tragic piece. Remember; light can reach anywhere you let it in....Take Care...

I am greatly at a loss, dearest. Not only for your suffering, but for all
(myself included), whose lives are magnified in times of overwhelming
emotion. When all they can formulate in way of thoughts are the negative
reminders of hopes and dreams, yet to be attained.

Your mastery with the written word is unsurpassed, love. And your
bravery to explore the deepest caverns of the soul and find yourself, is
admirable, and most humbling.

All my heart,
~Breezy
