That Road that Travels Straight...

Contributed by kareless on Friday, 24th June 2005 @ 06:44:47 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Life is that road that travels straight through town.
Love & success is that road that lies just outside of town & travels straight, straight down.

As the sun may turn towards the moon & descend into the thickness of the clouds,
& as the fog settles in to gather like in crowds.

Shall we follow that road that is paved in shadows & uncertainty,
shall we follow it with boldness of a quickened pace or fear not & walk on more gracefully?

Straight as the arrow shoots down its wicked and unforgiven path,
should we have for it such straight & unforgiven wrath?

What road is so fondly paven with that of such a seamless plot?
Must our need & will to amend all things & converge them, as if we were picking up the broken pieces & securing them into a tight knot.

Shall we dance on the wooden floors as if our feet were sweeping?
Intoxicating turns & twirls, back & forth & back again, could it be that underneath our feet, the floors lay weeping?

Could it be, that like those floors of hardened wood, that road that travels straight as a crooked arrow,
crooked as it turns & twirls straight through town, of the many feet that followed it down, from all the sweeping it withstood?

Is there anything as straight or crooked as an arrow flies,
when shot from a bow, ascending from no remote place nor destination but the skies?

Are we paving that path or just a solemn endless road that's paved by the life we feed it still,
with the love & success & its' future that sits & peers with rosy cheeks & curious hearts; out from all a window sill?

As our curious hearts gaze out down the swollen path that many a foot has swept,
it's our rosy cheeks & gazing eyes with time & straight roads traveled that to our hearts thickened curiosity, the promise was not kept.

So, as straight is the road that does not turn, through town with straightness it does travel,
not down but up, towards the sun, paving life, sweeping & kicking up all the way with our feet all the clouds of dust & gravel!

"Are we paving that path or just a solemn endless road that's paved by the life we feed it still."

This is well written. I really like the way you ask the question and then answer yourself with the next question. A song came to mind as I read it...

"Hang on to dreamin, when you're alone, unplug the tv, turn off your phone, get heavy on with diggin your ditch...cause Digg'in my ditch, where silence lives, diggin my ditch where madness gives, I diggin this ditch for when I'm old, I'm diggin this ditch my story is told..." lyrics and music by Dave Matthews performed by Dave Matthews Band.

Always remember to question everything, take nothing for granted, and follow your heart, no matter what anyone else says you should do. The eyes of truth are always watching you....

Love & Light!
