Array ( [sid] => 99073 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => I wish I Knew [time] => 2005-06-23 10:39:00 [hometext] => I wrote this poem in 2003 after losing my friend to suicide. She took her life one year earlier. Please leave me feedback. Thankyou [bodytext] => I wish I knew why I did it
I guess I couldn't take life anymore
I thought I was alone
And then you opened the garage door
I had already made the cut
That drained the life from me
I did it where you wouldn’t find me
Because I didn’t want you to see
I tried not to cry when I sliced my wrist
My blood I willingly gave
Cause I knew that by me doing it
It would take my pain away
Then I heard you scream out loud
As my eyesight was fading gray
I looked and saw you standing there
Too scared to turn away
When I saw you watching me
I realised I had reason to live
As I held out my bleeding wrists
You rushed with the only care you could give
Not once did your arms let go from around me
Your tears fell so hard on my head
You cried and said that you would love me for ever and ever
And held me until I was dead
I am sorry that you had to see me like that
And that you had to watch me die
But thank you for spending those moments with me
And for showing me love in your eyes

This is a very sad powerful poem. I can relate.
My sister committed suicide 2 years ago and you managed to capture the pain very well.
Keep writing he helps the pain subside but I'm not sure it ever goes away.

Damn this poem was awesome my words or comment could never do it justice. It brought a tear to my eye to read it. I had a friend take his life over here in Iraq so I know how this pain feels. Sorry you had to go threw this my thoughts are with you. But this write was very well done and emotional and I felt like I was there. Good job Shorty very sad but much felt. Take care….Steve
