The fireflies.
Running barefoot in the dark...
Brandishing a wild smile...
And a transparent jar...
Catching the tiny drifting illuminated yellow
spots of familiarity.

Now I'm sitting in the gloominess of this
all too tired room...
Watching fireflies outside my window.
I won't get up and go to catch them...
What would be the point?
The child within me has come and gone...
Lord how I miss her...

She didn't need a reason to be silly.

She didn't have any reason to worry about what other people thought.
All that matter was the fireflies...
Setting alight to her imagination...
Burning fiercely like a nightlight...
Illuminating the unwelcome path of adulthood...
and individuality...

But Lord...

As the road grows longer...

And my inner child grows quieter...

I've noticed my path grows darker...

It's so much darker on the other side of things...

All of the fireflies have been let out of the jar...

I like this one the best, oh it was just MAGNIFICENT.

it touched me so and I can very much relate to your feelings of missing your childhood and remincising over the good times, i have been thinking of that lately very much.

The word imagery was beautiful and this was very captivating and meant alot to me.

Every word was fulfilling, you are a great poet.
