Array ( [sid] => 98626 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => ETERNALLY A BOY [time] => 2005-06-19 17:23:05 [hometext] => A recollection of my childhood friend, Eddie who was taken from us at age twelve... [bodytext] => A tender life taken short,
Such evil action, I can't retort,
Your memory I can't abort,
You'll live long in my mind...

That dreadful night - dark and late,
We walked on through that harmless gate,
Never knew what was our fate,
Or that soon you'd be gone...

Then came two men with angry eyes,
Catching us by surprise,
Cursing and shouting lies,
Then angrier they grew...

As we stood - no words to say,
Wishing they would go away,
Then one shouted "now you'll pay!"
And passed on through the gate...

Suddenly - with raise of arm,
His one intent - to inflict harm,
He took away your boyish charm,
In a flash with a triggers pull...

I watched you fall - then I looked at him,
He gave me just a little grin,
He turned away - but left his sin,
Then he ran away to hide....

I called to you - you didn't move,
I didn't know just what to do,
I ran to get some help for you,
All to no avail...

Now a boy eternally,
In my dreams you'll always be,
There we'll play, reminiscently,
And soon we'll meet again... [comments] => 8 [counter] => 225 [topic] => 32 [informant] => wizard [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 19 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Death is something that we eventually accept but never forget. You did a fantastic job in honoring your friends memory.

Kind Regards, Tara

Tragedy on the streets where we live, taking in a deep breath, and God has taken Him home, away from the evil world, a world lost, for now, but, a winning world in the end, fight with me, it takes just 2 to hear, and one more to follow in His footsteps, the pain of memories will be cured soon:>

Dearest Paul ... I know not what to say on this. I have read this, (as you know ) several
times, but have not been able to gain the composure or the sense to put words down
on page, (or monitor screen, as it were). I couldn't seem to find words to pay justice to,
not only the piece layed before my tear-stained eyes ... but the emotion that you have invoked
as well. And what you ultimately must have gone through, and repeat everytime you think of this ...

How incredibly and painfully tragic, not just for his fate, but for your having witnessed such an
unthinkable act. My heart pains at reading these words ... but incredibly I am so very impressed
with your write. Impressed that you found the words ... and the fortitude to share this.

Outstanding. In every way.

*heartfelt hugs to you*

always ~

Sue *hugs* Paul so tight. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm also so sorry you witnessed the death of your friend right before your eyes. It pains my heart to read your words and I know whatever I say will never bring your aching heart comfort. I commend you on writing and sharing with us your painful ordeal. Your childhood friend may be gone, but he will never be forgotten for he lives on eternally within your beautiful heart.

On the wings
of death and sorrow
God sends us
new hope for tomorrow--
And in His mercy
and His grace
He gives us strength
to bravely face
the lonely days
that stretch ahead
And know our loved one
is not dead
But only sleeping
and out of our sight
And we'll meet in that land
Where there is no night.

Helen Steiner Rice.

Chin up sweet guy, Your friend is always with you~
love and heartfelt hugs,
sue m
