on the things I've done.
Living up to their standards
because they wanted me to be someone.
I can't change what happened,
I can't change the person I've been.
But what's real is who I can be now,
who I truly am within.
They say I should be like this,
they try to make me someone I'm not.
Take my hand and turn me
back into the person I long forgot.
You can rescue me
from the person I've turned into.
You can save me
from everything that I used to do.
I don't want to play that part,
the part everyone wants me to play.
And yesterday's gone,
and all that matters is today.
Take my hand,
turn me back into the person I've lost inside.
My inner soul cries out to be let go,
for all this time, it's been denied. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 185 [topic] => 43 [informant] => THEL0STDREAMER [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

A masterpeice of determination. very good.
I've spent a lifetime to be different. In other words to be me. I finally decided to find me alone the best remody from someone trying to turn me into what he thought I should be. There's only been one that excepted me as is so I'm gonna hang on.
keep writing as we need much more positive writes.
luv, huggs,
emy

Oh thankyou so much for sharing!! I love this soo much & it just what I needed to lift my spirits, i can relate so much. In recent years I have compromised my own standards to fit in with my peers and be considered as "cool", I look back now & still have many terrible regrets. & sometimes I cant put what Ive done in the past behind me, i feel so guilty, and just like you, I know I am not that person.

So thank you very much for your inspiring words, im glad there is someone else out there like me.

Brilliant write!!!! Continue to be yourself!!!
