something like a dream
turned reality into a dark harbor
a shimmering ghost-reflection of itself
as if in glass — it's vibrance gone.

somehow, I am deeply seduced
by this dimly romantic vision of half-life
reflections of light is all anyone is
in this darkness behind my eyes

shatter stained, the ghost of glass broken
light blisters it's way through the
patina of filth, only to illuminate
an empty shadow

So this is how it works at night, eh?
There's only one at my table of two.
The wall in the mirror stares blankly
back at my own empty gaze.

I'm not down here for nothing.
I am not down here for my health.
The artificial fountain burbles happily in the background,
while the fragile chair creaks under my weight.

This is my home for the next two days?
Am I my prison for the rest of my life?
Why do I even ask?
The answers come, regardless of ones state of mind.

That awful music is numbing my head.
This is total insanity.
I've filled another half-page with meaningless drivel
Wasting paper, wasting life, wasting a bit of eternity

All for a hug in the darkness…

…but it will all be worth it.

such longing and saddness..

but the idea of "sooner or later"
captured me...just there..

such a very well written piece-
