Deep meditation’s prayer brought its fruit,
The pious man, enraptured glory viewed,
Unveiled to him, before his dazzled sight
Were things that are to common men denied.

Delight, elation, blissful ecstasy,
He tasted and drank deep from Mystery,
And in transported rapture’s joy he cried:
“Remain sweet vision, stay with me abide!

But while yet relishing delight, he heard:
"Friend, - things of greater import are preferred,-
Your visilon showed you all that you can take,
But now cut lose, let go friend and forsake!"

Your Vets are homeless, - disability
Does crippple the brave hero coming home,
Cry out against this crime’s enormity
Until your east and western oceans foam!

Forget angelic singing sweet and bright,
Cloud Nine, and your perception’s brilliant light,
Direct your faculties to now perceive
“A famished Vet is tugging on your sleeve!"

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! Ed.......good for you!
What a horrible disgrace for the government of the United States! The world power no less, sends their young men to foreign shores to lose their lives to help free those
that need their freedom, and then when they come back home tired, emotionally spent, and wishing to heal.........they find themselves on the streets, HOMELESS! What an outrage this is, How can this be?
Please someone that reads ED's poem can you help them?
Beautifully said
ED.............now to whom must this be sent?
To get the results of compassion, love, and endurance
they so rightly have earned?
Warm love
consue

Very sad but well done.
You've written a masterpeice here even tho it's heart wrenchingly sad.
My son was in the Army and he has an on the job injury but it wasn't in the war. He did spend 10 years in the Army tho. He also gets full Army pay for life 'cause of his injury. I know personally he'd rather be over there fighting but can't.
I really don't understand how this can happen to our soilders. It took my son a little while to get his money coming in tho.
You've done a great job with this write.
luv, huggs, prayer,
emy

They Who serve courageously at the call of their country, and often die while doing so, are on call at a moments notice to depart for places unknown anywhere in the world to shield us from harm. Their young bodies are already stacked high as a barrier between us and those who would destroy us. Those brave young warriors who survive have already given us their youth, and in some cases, their dreams.

We must all rise to the occasion and let the governmental stay-at-homes understand that we will not tolerate another homecoming similar to the one given our Viet Nam vets. We must care for the broken bodies, minds, and dreams of our hero’s. No more lost warriors. No more allowing our brave returning children to fall through our society’s cracks. We have seen enough already.

Speak loud dear Elizabeth. We must all make too much noise to allow that to ever happen again

John
