Though it was written a long time ago, I've found it has applied to me again a couple of times since. It was written at a time when I was critically ill. [bodytext] => As I lay in this hospital bed
with nothing at all to do
I dream of a life away from here
A life without pain, without fear.
Oh, what a life that would be!
without suffering, or misery!

I lay here in my weakened state
Alone, and far away from you
yet, still you are there for me
my darling, as always, there for me
and I find I have the strength to face
whatever this life may throw at me
the strength that you, my darling create
the warmth of your heart that I embrace
The strength and will that I need
to survive my plight
and continue along this path called life.

The fear I have within me now
is no longer of darkness and pain
but is the fear that I may never
meet you, laugh with you or hold you
So, how could I leave this life just yet?
whilst you are out there, waiting for me
with your arms open wide for me!

I long to hold you in my arms,
and lose myself in your warm embrace.
I long to hear your voice so tender
and see the smile upon your face.
For these reasons, I will recover
This is the hope you give me
'tis the warmth and tenderness
that your love brings to me.

When this hospital bed no longer holds me,
when this pain no longer consumes me
I will leave this place of misery
and live the life within my dreams.
I will meet you, hold you and laugh with you
I will see the smile upon your face,
hear your tender voice again
and sink into your warm embrace,
within your arms so strong
the only place that I feel safe,
the place I feel I belong.
My love, my friend, hold out hope
for I will recover.....just for you! [comments] => 1 [counter] => 206 [topic] => 16 [informant] => Debz [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )
