Array ( [sid] => 9731 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => he painted as a poet [time] => 2003-01-04 11:20:00 [hometext] => poetry , prose ...all much the same , do you not think it so? ...
" he painted as a poet."...thoughts of my late husband .... a beautiful soul [bodytext] => he believed he painted as a poet....
he had said he wanted to be everyman...
to soar to the highest mountain,
to wallow in the deepest depths,
and to exuberately experience everything
that was on offer in between.

to make all his own decisions and mistakes,
to have no responsibilities,
to have all the Crazy excitement ,
a life like that can bring.

Ireland, he told me, was the place where
a man could sit sit alone all his life...
if he so wishes.
he is not an oddity...
maybe a genius...
but nothing special...
with none to envy or to scorn.

sure, he said, it's a rough old life,
it's all pre-destined you know
one gets the odd chance
at making changes in direction,
but it's not very often
and making these changes is always soooo
chancey.

all in all,
it's worth getting through it ,
if you can.
and he did.

but will I?

This is an absolutely stunning and beautiful tribute to your husband, Roisin. Clearly, you are a beautiful soul too. I like your inclusion of Irish culture. Are you Irish also? Lastly, to answer your question: I think you will "get through it", in your magnificant style.

sounds like a true writer. i think anyone can write boring prose, but to write good prose, one must also be a poet.
