So that I might fly away.

She kneels down to pray.
It is this way
Night after night...
The shadows fall across her face...
Embrace her in a darkness,
That has become a part of her...
Invisible fingers tend to strip her of
her faith...
But the moisture remains on her cheeks...
As she drowns in her diminishing grace.

She prays a little less each evening...
She tries her best not to let the emptiness
consume her heart...
But she finds it gets harder to hold
That dreadful feeling off,
She hugs her knees, and chokes on her breath...
She dreams uneasy dreams...
Until her pillows are covered in sweat...
Just another ordinary night...
Falling into a familiar place in the scheme of things.

Midnight,
She sits in a chair in the corner (By the window.)
She is grasped by the claws of rage,
And before she knows it the floor
is littered with broken glass...
The pieces feel smooth in her fingers...
She watches as the crimson runs down it,
Like rivers...
She steps up to her window ledge...
The breeze feels good as it ruffles her hair...
(Finally something to dry her tears.)

Downward she looks...
And, love, it's a pretty long way...
She smiles and lets go of the wall...

God give me wings...
So that I might fly away.

Its such a tragic tale... and is written with grat skill. I do not understand her sorrow - but can relate to the troubles of life and the desire to get away. Geez i keep reading it over and over again. it is great!

That was a emotional write. I could feel the sadness and the indecision of Choice. One step away ... it all seems so faraway. But to those that end it that way. The true pain only begins.
