Array ( [sid] => 96618 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => War... [time] => 2005-06-02 17:23:48 [hometext] => [bodytext] => How many people must fall to the ground?
How many bodies must there be lying around?
How many gun bullets must fall to the floor?
How many tears to end this war?

How many wounded must there be on the streets?
What will it take to be rid of these fleets?
How many more lives are there to be lost?
How can we end it all, and at what cost?

Why are they fighting? What is the need?
This pointless killing, and endless greed.
Children sit crying, huddled in bed,
Not knowing they're orphans, their parents are dead.

Gunshots are constant from dusk until dawn,
Silent tears fall, from those left to mourn,
People who are hiding, can hear others scream,
They close their eyes tightly and pray its a dream.

Each second feels like minutes, each day like a year,
People are homeless and living in fear.
They hold each other closely, and try not to cry,
Not knowing what’s happening, waiting to die.

The fighter planes hover, like bees in a nest,
They drop bombs over cities, killing the rest.
The soldiers are dying, they take their last breath,
Their body is limp, as they surrender to death.

Then one day there’s silence, no screams or no cries,
People emerge, as the Sun starts to rise.
The war fields are quiet, and peaceful and lulled,
Not a punch to be thrown, nor a trigger to be pulled.

They see their dead loved ones, and are riddled with grief,
Their lives have been stolen, and war is the thief.
This time will affect everything for years and more,
All because, they declared war…

Eureka! It is so nice to read real and worthy poetry here... Absolutely fantastic, though I found a couple of places with room for improvement but over all... Kudos to you.
Adieu,
