I pick it up and run my fingers over the medal
A tear begins to roll down my cheek
Yet again I am crying
Suddenly anger engulfs me... covering the sadness
And the frame burns my hands
I pull my arm back and hurl the memory at the wall
Hitting, the glass shatters and the frame bends
Walking over I glare at the mutilated mess of what I used to look at and smile
The tears come streaming down once again
Bending down I dig through the shards of glass and pull out the picture itself
Studying it I smile at all the good memories
But then I realize everything you have done to me
And the fury comes swelling back
I tear the picture in half
Then take the pieces and tear again
And once more
Eight pieces of picture containing different parts of you and me...
Your beautiful blue eyes... my flawless smile... our fingers entwined
Wait... what have I done?
That perfect memory... gone
As I drop them, the pieces land in the pile of glass and the defaced frame
The ruble of the once wonderful relationship
Sitting down I bury my head in my hands and give in to the tears
Of rage... of depression... of loneliness...
Of all the emotions that I have left bottled up inside the passed weeks
Maybe destroying the one thing I have left of you...
Maybe it was for the better
Part of the moving on process...
Unexpected tranquility overcomes me
Lying down on the carpet of my room I look at the ceiling a smile creeps to my lips...
I am moving on...

I've never felt such deja vu as just I did reading this poem. I've been there. Unexpected tranquility is sweet, indeed. A treasure. I'd love to read more. Kudos.
