It doesn't matter anymore,
It's the ending.
It's the answering machine when I call my best friend's number
After a day of forced smiles
And a night filled with tears.
It doesn't matter anymore,
Because he...
He turned away when I needed it to be the
Beginning.
"Hi, we're not here right now."
I guess you never were.
Where's the beginning?

This has a lot of well-expressed emotion in it. However, I would've liked it a little bit better if you had the ending as "I guess you never were..." I think that would've made a more powerful statement, but I enjoed it nonetheless.
