Array ( [sid] => 96463 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => LITTLE THINGS [time] => 2005-06-01 07:26:18 [hometext] => Thank you to everyone that reads and comments on my poetry. You have been a blessing in my life. [bodytext] =>
Beautiful houses filled with material things, are a pleasure to look at, but what do they mean?
They can’t give you hugs when your lonely or sad, they can’t make you smile when your day
has been bad.

These luxury cars are wonderful to drive, but what can they give you, Other than a good ride?

Clothes are a joy, a must in this life, but what can they give you other than strife?
We look in the mirror in each pair of jeans, and think we’re humongous, So see what I mean?

It’s the little things in life, that should matter more, a pat on the back, a thank you and please,
a smile and nod from a stranger, because you opened a door.

Little things like butterflies, dancing in the wind, a moonlit night, a letter you send. A walk on the beach, some time with your thoughts, a kiss from a Mother, you thought you had lost. A day spent with family, a talk with a friend, a ride in the country, a way to pretend.

I’m talking about joys you have everyday, but you can’t really see them for “Life’s” in the way.
We work everyday, because we have to survive, put food on the table, have some kind of life.
Just don’t forget that out there, among all of the rest, are little things that are waiting for you,
to see them at their best.

This is good, i really like the bit in the middle about butterflies and mothers you thought you had lost. That bit could be a good poem on it's own.

i see you enjoy the simple things in life too, which i think are much more important than materialistic things. possessions can be replaced, people cannot, not can feelings. this is a lovely lovely piece of work.

Little things mean alot for sure Sharon, I always think of the Christ. he didn't have a place to lie down his head, and yet he was the happiest man alive.
We are a materialistic society, always trying to keep up the Jones..........such a pity
so many miss the most important thing in their whole life. Love.
Really thoughtful write I enjoyed reading it Sharon;
Keep up the good work
Warm love

This definately deserves a quote from one of my favorite songs.

"Love without devotion
can never be true
You can show emotion
by the little things you do

Words when kindly spoken
can make dreams seem true
but more than words can say
are the little things you do"

"The little things you do" by Sam Cooke

You have written what is to me a very special poem.
