Heavy
is the air
before the storm
thick,
suffocating

People scurry
like mice
from a hungry cat

There is a shift
that the people sense,
before they see
the first
blinding
flash
the loud
crack
that rumbles
through the very streets
they walk upon

A quick glance
up
Then, perhaps,
another
electrifying
flash

Frenzied,
the rain fallls
big
fat
drops

Kerplunking
onto the earth

From inside,
through windows
The people watch
most annoyed
by this interruption
in their busy day

A few -
astonished
yet again
at the power,
the wonder,
and yes,
the glory
that nature
presents
to them.

To be honest Carol I have never considered myself as a poetry writer just some bloke who knows the meanings of a few words that rhyme and occasionally make sense.

So when I read work such as yours I stand in awe, this is ecxeptional work.

Johnny.
