Such is the art from a dream
Of a setting sun so wistful
Against the blue sea
That it's beautiful.

Yet, the dream comes to an end
When the sky wakes to find
The darkest night when
The stars only shine.

The sea reflects the light
That the sky gives
So that sunshine
No longer lives.

The sun has died
Along with the dream,
Yet the moon now has life
In the waves of the mourning sea. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 318 [topic] => 32 [informant] => Essentially9 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 21 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Facinating write, Jen. "The art coming from the dream...." ... and the dream dies with darkness"? Not sure about. Then there seems to be a dying and rebirth...in life without the dream, perhaps reality.

Very intriguing, well done

Will

Wow and you say you're not big on imagery??? This is fantastically visual and oozing with emotion. I love the mournful tone to this...Every stanza is quite great in it's own right, but something about that last one...it really lingers...Great job Jen.

Now this is some good poetry. What wonderful imagery, and water is always one awesome source for the best kind of imagery, too. I mean, there's so much to love about this poem, and that mourning sea at the end seemed to capture all the romanticism in this poem, and that reflection stuff in the second stanza was pretty ingenious, and I'm just plain glad I read this. Great stuff!!!
