Array ( [sid] => 95991 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Dear Momma [time] => 2005-05-27 16:48:13 [hometext] => I can't believe I remembered this ... I wrote it for my Mom and sang it to her for Mother's day ... 12 or 13 years ago [bodytext] => It’s been quite some time
Since I last wrote you
There’s been some changes in my life
Some I’m still goin’ through

And I’ve waited much too long
To write down these words
So if you close your eyes
And think of me
I only hope that they’ll be heard

Dear Momma,
I love you
That is what I’m tryin’ to say
And I’m sorry for the tears
That I’ve caused over the years
As my life went astray
I only hope it’s not too late
And a mother’s love can wait
For a son who knew it all
To finally take a fall
And try to get his life set straight

Do you remember the boy
With all his little toys?
Can it be like it was then, back when I was only ten
And I was still your pride and joy

Lord, if I could take away
All the sorrow and the pain
The wondrin’ where you went wrong
In the words of a song
I’d have done it yesterday

Dear Momma,
I love you
Is what I’ve been tryin’ to say
And I’m sorry for the tears
That I’ve caused over the years
As my life went astray
I only hope it’s not too late
And a mother’s love can wait
For a son who knew it all
To finally take a fall
And try to get his life set straight

Dear Momma,
I love you
Is what I wanted most
To say

( I spoke to my Mom today, and suddenly this just came flooding back )

I LOVE YOU MOM !!!

This brings back a memory from last year when I got my first apology from my eldest son for all the things he did to upset me when he was young. This is wonderful and every Mother should realize all her love and worry and pain was worth it in the end. This is great, Scott, just like you.

Simplement perfectionner.

An impeccable dedication to your darling mother, cheri Scott. Your love for her is eloquently stated, and truly felt. I'd make a song for my mother as well... yet, I don't have the same musical abilities you do, lol. A poetic work of art that every son/daughter should read to their mother. Heart-felt, and simply divine. All my love. Forever,

Your dear friend/avid fan,

Stephy! *hugs!*

God, this really touches me. I'm just that way, I'm afraid... I get all sorts of sappy when it comes to stuff like this. I can only imagine that it was an extraordinary moment for both of you when you sang it to her. The write is beautiful... but to be honest... I think it's what is in the author's note that really moves me.

Oh and... I'm betting she already knew. *winks*

I have meant to comment on this for days, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
(I didn't know what to say)

This is wonderful Nazzy. It is an amazing poem, and I so hope she adores it as much as I do. (And everyone else does if the comments are anything to go by. lol)

A gorgeous, heatfelt, touching write,
*hugs tons*

Naz, you made me cry. My stupid son hasn't reached that point yet. I only pray he will before he ruins his whole life. Thanks for the cry! Great write!
