I see a bevy of masks---18 in all
Wondering why of all things, I started to collect...?
I take a seat on the couch and I begin to reflect
Could it be a metaphor for something ill at ease?
Is it that I wear a mask in public; always striving to appease?
I guess in that respect I'm really not alone
as we ALL hold pieces of our personality, and clutch them close to home
Why is it that we're afraid to voice what we think and how we feel?
Why are we so scared of what our true thoughts will reveal?
Perhaps what really haunts us is what lurks deep inside...
The suspicion that what we thought we knew has all been belied. Scorp a very well written piece of poetry reflecting on what most of us try to contain within us. A deep and powerful poem which I think most can relate to. You write with style and ur true talent reflected within every word that is written. Remarkable as always my friend.
*hugs*

We all have problems accepting our own truths at times. So easy to point out faults of others, but to own ours is difficult. You will find as you begin to age it will come easier and you will not need those masks. You become comfortable with who you are and accept it. That is when life becomes enjoyable and you can relax. Blesssings sweets.

well written. many people really wonder, why we have to hide our true selves from everyone or is it better to do so and never let anyone truly in. great job..

Wow...my thoughts exactly...no! Not exactly because I cannot express myself as greatly as you do. So many of us can surely relate to this poem but not all of us can relay the message as exquisitely well as you.
