Drowns out those trying to sing
Tom Jones or Elvis, drunk pub karaoke

Girls in mini skirts, brave cold sea breze
Whistling at shirted guys, trying to tease
Before falling over drunk and laughing

Kebab shop queue, primal need for greasy mess
Curry sauce drips down some skimpy dress
As she shouts taxi in middle of road

Two tall guys stare, curse and swear
While their girls just pull hair
Others form a circle, swaggering circus clowns

Police van waits watching on standby
While heartbroken one begins to cry
Her guys gone off, some best mate!

Smashed up bottles of cheap nasty beer
Litter the floor like diamonds clear
While girl vomits on someones doorstep

Thousands of years of civilisation
And this is a night of fun in our nation?

This could be my town your talking about. So true and so sad. In fact this could be almost any town or city in the Uk. Christopher.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
