Array ( [sid] => 9460 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Ashes [time] => 2002-12-30 10:30:00 [hometext] => This poem is written by me in hopes it may help someone who faces the battle of substance abuse or who may read this and be warned of the dangers. Please don't let your hopes and dreams and future end up in "ashes". Death is no ones friend !!
Russ-aka-Lone_er [bodytext] => What good is ones life
When all is said and done
For what does one stand
When it all comes undone

Where is the reason
To brave a new day
Only to see our children
Whither and wilt-slowly pass away

I care not to live
In a world full of alcohol and drugs
Amid people of no understanding
Pushers and pimps, gangbangers and thugs

Hopes once held for tomorrow
Have all deserted and fled
Tonight I gather ashes
Of a future all but dead

Perhaps death indeed is a friend
Delivering me from the insanity today
Just like my hopes - my dreams
I throw my life away

Russ
