Array ( [sid] => 9446 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Losing You! [time] => 2002-12-30 04:40:00 [hometext] => On a long dark road in October we lost a beautiful part of our family, She died on her way home from work because of a halloween prank, four teenagers had hung a dummy over an overpass, and it looked like a man walking on the busy highway, that night was very foggy, she swerved not to hit what she thought was a man, and her car spun out of control and rolled several times, we lost her that October evening; the four teens are now serving life for her death, she was only 23yrs old ------------------------------- [bodytext] => I walk the roads of dreary darkness,
worn and all alone,
I tried so hard to break these screams,
but "its you" I cannot hold,
I slip away ..... inside the night,
granted no-one sees,
I try to find the power,
but again ..... death speaks to me,

Hoping somehow .... somewhere,
my spirit wouldn't drain,
and down this dreary road,
I could wander without pain,

Darkness stands as my own shadow,
no light could fill this void,
emptiness aches inside me,
my heart holds not a joy,

I begged and prayed, it wouldn't be,
as darkness stills the night,
Is my spirit, a draining soul,
that hopes to find whats right,

My mind drifts on, as a turning page,
wandering in a hole,
back to you, my tears begin,
'why is death, sooooo ....... very cold,

When will this end, I scream,
and my echo'es chill ..... returns,
Life is Life, and Death is Death,
and you will feel the burn,

My spirit fights the pain,
that leaks of broken love,
my questions aren't answered,
though my veins have lost more blood,

Why must I lose ..... another child,
and bear the worst of pain,
as I walk another mile down,
to identify her remains! [comments] => 12 [counter] => 308 [topic] => 39 [informant] => Valerie_Pearson [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

That poem is so sad, loved it though. So many people die out on the roads, I've also been in some terrible accidents but not to do with a stupid prank - that prank was awful, even if she didn't lose her life I reckon they should've been punished for that prank anyway.

This is such an incredible poem ... I feel so badly for you ... the last verse was a shock and makes you realise the stark reality of what it would be like to lose a child.

Powerful poem. Well written.

An incredibly powerful write... it's hard enough to lose a loved one... but to lose one to the stupid actions of others must be even worse. My thoughts are with you.

This is a beautiful "Goodbye", Valerie. Very sad, but very beautiful. What a waste of life over a stupid act. I'm so sorry for your loss.

And so many times people say to one who is serious....."Why can't you take a joke"....."It was only a joke"....THIS is why i dont do jokes well......there is a place and time for pranks and jokes and out on the highway isn't where they should be played....this hurts reading this......it's so painful...as i can feel the pain you must have endured with this......my god Valerie im in tears for your pain deeply here girl....

Oh Val!
This is so beautifully written, my heart screams out for your loss. I can't even begin to grasp your pain and what you are going through.
You of the beautiful soul, how is it you still have such strong faith.
You walk with me in my heart as does Nathan.
Love
Dallas
