I see the care
the hope and trust

I see the balence,
the thoughts of life
no giving up
with one at your side

I see what I want
what I so desperatly need
the comfort of resting
my head on a knee

I see the compainon
or wishes of one
silently sharing
two hearts beat as one

I see now what i want

I can totally empathize with this... it's so sad. Being alone in this way is so painful and you conveyed it well, especially by illustrating how good the companionship is then to pull the rug out by saying you don't have it and you won't ever have it. Very touching, sad.

But don't give up hope! I've posted enough poems here about that kind of longing that I'd given up hope, too. And yesterday, two - not one, but TWO - people at YDPC emailed me that I was cute! Which just goes to show if someone like me (hardly a recipient for that kind of praise!) can get that kind of response, then a winner ('cause that is what you are, I have it on very good authority) like you will find someone! It's about when, not an if. :)

Lovely piece of your heart exposed for all to see. Never give up on love. We may not get the one we wanted, but usually the one the universe meant us to be with. When you quit looking it will find you. Wishing you the very best.

I know that feeling well. And it is well captured here, with lyrical and graceful language. Just remember that there are many things we can only learn from loneliness. I eventually became friends with it, and that has done many good things for me.

Take care.

Andrew
