Notice my sighs and of my quiet torment take heed
My self-condemning heart is crying out to you
It is tonight of your holy comfort I pursue

I must utter a prayer for I don’t know what else to do
In untold despair I call out shall I ever find you?
I sin everyday Father so I am undeserving of your thought
But I ask of your guidance now bow down to you I ought

Do you really see this unspeakable pain I have to hold?
Do you already know that I am waning in this world so cold?
I am sorry for I am wicked and contain no righteousness
Impart in me some joy a hopeful seed of happiness

I need your help oh Almighty give me a reason to survive
Can you see through your lofty eyes?
That I know longer want to be alive
