Below the cliffs within' my woods;
where squirrels find peace and nature thrills

delicately drinking touching the surface of the
magical waters created with his gentle nostrils

feet spread with knees bent wide; those soulfully intelligent bright eyes
...soft dark love filled liquid deep brown eyes, ahhhh the Unicorn sighs...

flowing mane of whispy waterfalls of beauty to the ground
he enchanted the forest and my heart without a tangible sound

his chin carried a long haired graceful waving beard
he saw his reflection upon the water; two Unicorns now mirrored

no bit nor bridle ever shall fasten nor pierce his purity
only the cooling touch of the night air and moonbeams

tredding within' the snowie white woods; soft crystal lights of snow
this being so brilliantly special among the trees he silently knows

waterfalls and flowers appearing magically
on an ice cold wintery day

surrounding me with ethereal light and fragrance;
the wonder of his ways

Oh, forces that be nary let this beautiful moment cease
Ahhhhhh... Unicorn... his essence ... his very peace

...remember to breathe again...
and then he let me touch his softly flowing pretty mane..

...and all the air felt lighter than the water
dropplets falling from his chin,

I knew briefly, as he cared for all forests here
and everywhere, timeless again

feeling humbled, looking down at my feet, my toe hit a rock
and saw great stallion hooves feathered in magnificent fetlocks

Unicorn, beautiful, thousands of years old
yet seemingly in his life's prime

there were no minutes and seconds as throughout
this amazing visit stood still the time

mighty Unicorn's breath, warm and gentle,
sweet as the sigh of doves

beautiful forest filled with musical harps of imaginary music;
a real Unicorn's love

the sun was low now casting long delicate shadows
as the Unicorn started to walk away

wearing his spiralled horn of noble herritage;
off to magical pastures to graze on farkleberries.

I truly love this poem. I love Unicorns. I'm an artist and can draw them. It took me awhile to get the know-how, but I did it. Now I draw them, when I'm not writing poetry. *S* Cynthia
