need a drop or two
squeezed into the crack
it's good as new

But he has nothing for lunch
and the ex's out of food
I'll buy some hot pockets
anything else would be rude

Her surgery was rough
could I float her some green
though I've got no work or
cash, I'm a money machine

The weather's been rough
and mom won't drive in the rain
I'll look for jobs later
she's not being a pain

My daughter's so angry
helping is not what she needs
can you help out this time
on deaf ears fall my pleads

My brother's out of work
he quit his job on a whim
He is so angry that
I won't support him

I got him that job
and some customers too
but he shakes his head
there's more I can do

Driving mom to work
my girl calls on the cell
she wanted to tell me
I should just go to hell

Bro-in-law's PC's got problems
his manuscript he can't find
Can I drop what I'm doing
I surely won't mind

The cell rings again
my ex needs medication
I want to look for work
she thinks it's a vacation

My ex-boss calls me up
he's missing a CD
he thinks it was stolen
he thinks it was me

When I ws laid off
he checked all that I had
my tool bag was clean
of that I am glad

But squeeze me some more
and direct him to links
that will solve his issue
he'll be okay methinks

Bro-in-law calls me back
his data he found
my instructions did work
I disconnect without sound

Can I look for work now
that everything's done
Everyone else has been serviced
everyone else but this one

It's almost 8 AM
the tube's long squeezed dry
the glue is all gone
I no longer know why [comments] => 8 [counter] => 200 [topic] => 63 [informant] => Jaycee [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => hbadday )

Jaycee,

This is well written ,catchy, and very clever!!! I love the way you put humor in this but still get your point across.

What i got from this poem is that you may be feeling stressed out or stretched thin, i like the comparison to the glue. Nice write. Happy belated mother's day!!

Ooops, some mistakes beides the ws misspelling. The last line in the 9th paragraph should read:
Surely I won't mind
Maybe it's a little thing but it flows better in my mind that way.
The second line in the 14th paragraph should have been:
his data he had found
That gets the poem to how I had written it. In that same (14th) paragraph I should have omitted the "I" but it was in my original scribble. That's what happens when these ideas come when you're doing something else.

Oh, thanks for the comment, and while Jaycee is a unisexual moniker, I am a guy all the same. A lot of people think - and I mean no offense toward anyone - that if you run around like crazy for familial duties - that you have to be the mother. In most cases... probably true. Just not in mine. There's just more cracks than glue in my life...

A good poem about what made me think of life in general and how it can feel like struggle. I really liked it.

very, very good poem with a strong use of rhyme. How very true that there seems to be too many cracks than there is glue. I'm glad i read this and look forward to more. dw
