We were here before, do you remember the flowers were in bloom
I see you smiling as you step out of the shade and the sun envelopes you

In my heart I've held onto your memory
I hear your laughter, see your eyes sparkle as the sun goes down

The sun shone brightly, you smiled softly and told me to get up
We kissed gently and I held you closely as we spoke of our love

We left the prairie, went to the bank to take out a loan for our house
A man in black stormed in and the entire place grew still to his shouts

In my heart I've held onto your memory
I hear your laughter, see your eyes sparkle as the sun goes down

He made demands of paper and metal as desperately you held my hand
What happened next will haunt me forever as I turn into an old man

I stood up bravely, let go of your hand and told him to put the gun down
He only smiled and said who is your lady and shot you as I screamed out loud

In my heart I've held onto your memory
I hear your laughter, see your eyes sparkle as the sun goes down

In my heart I've held onto your memory
I heard your laughter, saw your eyes sparkle as the sun went down
Forever down
