Where I could still open my eyes and
Be able to see you sitting at my side
Where I could reach out and
Be able to touch your hand

I can't see any of that in my mind's eye
It's all too faded,
Washed away by the tide

Why can't I see
Why can't I see you here
I swear I heard your voice
Just yesterday

Is it that I'm fooling myself
And that you've been gone
For so long
And that I've just been pretending
That you were here all this time

great write... this is probably the most bittersweet, but in a good way, poem that i've read in a while... its hard for me to relate too deeply with this poem having never lost a parent as of yet, and hopefully not in the near future lol.... so to say i can relate to this poem is hard to say... but i can imagine, as much as possible, as how bad it would be.... but I'm sure your mother really loves the poem... good work
