Array ( [sid] => 93602 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Back Then [time] => 2005-05-07 14:20:53 [hometext] => I meant it as a sort of rap and it came out as a stream of protest and nostalgia, a throwback to the 60s [bodytext] => Back then there were people who used think,
how to make a better tommorow,
there were people who with a wink,
could dispel every ones sorrow

Back then people like John Lennon,
and that guy who started Greenpeace,
people who used to battle on,
to give life in the world a new lease

Back then people used to give a damn,
about what was happenin to the world,
who used to look at what was around them,
at all the atrocities and horrors unfold

Back then these people used to do something,
be it protests or rallies or even woodstock,
to bring peace to try to end suffering,
but they were beating their head against a rock,

For back then they were subdued and nulled,
their leaders killed or assasinated,
their strong voices forever lulled,
the people of the world segregated.

Here and now the world seems to me bleak,
one of pollution death and decay,
but for hope forever i shall seek,
to maybe see a brand new day.

The end of your poem was good but if you really knew about the 60's Im sure this would have been a lot different. The "peace loving hippies" who we typically see and hear about were usually the ones always doped on bud, acid, shrooms and all kind of psychidelic drugs. They were influencing our kids, influencing music (some of which is really good) and were being bums on our streets and a problem for the Establishment by the time Haight and Ashbury began to fade in 69. The true activists or hippies were the ones rallying against Vietnam and segregation and doing something about it instead of just talk. Some of these were the college kids and most of the people who really sought peace, you wont even hear about. Everything was f'd up back then, even Malcolm X and the Panthers. The true hereos are the Vets, who fought to save our asses.

I DNT KINDA AGREE WITH THAT ALINA PERSON.I THINK THAT THE DOPIST HIPPIES WERE RATHER BETTER OFF CAUZ THEY KNEW WAT THEY WERE DOIN THAT IS THEY WERENT PARTICIPATING IN THE CRAP GOIN AROUND.THEY DIDNT WANNA SCREW THE KIDS' MIND BUT THE KIDS DID THAT TO EMSELVES NOT KNOWIN THE CONSEQUENCES SO AT THE END THE RAP STUFF IS GUD AND THE 60S WERE GUD
