If only you knew
my dreams and hopes
how I wish for simple things
like a loving home
a fulfilling job
and enough money
to make my world
go round

How I don't need a mansion
or the highest paying job
or the biggest bank account
on the block
to be happy

I just need to know
in my heart
your love for me
and to see
the faces of the children
I helped create

I just need a dry roof
over our heads
and enough food
to feed us and any
who enter hungry

Money enough
to see the joy
a summer vacation brings
and that the bills
are all paid

I don't need much
but I will always
need you
by my side

If only you knew

i agree with ben, and id like to see a better attitude towards your writing, because it just makes me think that if you think its bad, or isnt good enough, why post it? i like to see writers sure of their abilities and knowing the poem is good, even if not their best. we all want things, but the lucky ones are the ones that work to get them.

While every care is taken to ensure the general sites content is family safe, our moderators cannot be in all places; all the time. Please report poetry and or comments that are in breach of our site rules HERE (Please include poem title or url). Parents also please ensure that you supervise your children well when they are on the internet; regardless of what a site says about being, or being considered, child-safe.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
