proclaim to us the season
With tales inspiring about life
that grants to us great reason
To overcome the storms of life
and blow the chaff away
Grant joyful songs to lowly hearts
write words to save the day

Pierce pride with words of humbleness
drive apathy from rebels
Give wisdom to the child that asks
grant slaves their resolution
Feed those who hunger for the words
to find their inspiration
Parley the cause of destitiutes
improve some how our nation

And when you have done all these things
through torrent gail and tempest
Give history to mortal man
to let his soul not perish
Bring life and light and liberty
show us the dawning day
When death and pale the circumstance
will one day fade away.

O'le writer of the ages mend
the heart of man that''s broken
Pick him up from the darkened land
free him from all his torment
Help him repent from transgressions
that cause his heart to fail
Bring salutations to his hand
to end the curse of hell. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 302 [topic] => 34 [informant] => Archie [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SongLyrics )

Great write.

You did not ride the "O'le" thing
and try to make it look like something
out of the 1600's.

Good taste.

Archie! Just look at you! This is terrific! It gets better and better with each read (there's a lot to absorb here - and on the first read through the mind is turning, turning)... and it absolutely comes alive when spoken aloud. I read it, I confess, as poetry and did not sing it (trust me... that's a good thing... my singing leaves much to be desired. lol!).

Excellent work, Archie ---- keep 'em coming!

Impressed,
~SNM~
