[hometext] =>
[bodytext] => Those carnies with their smoke and mirrors Take breaks outside when no one is looking They talk of memories of summers past And turn on the neon for one more ride. Taking in all those fumes from the vendors Breathing out all those lies they had sold Dreaming of college and friends come and gone On top of their world they can’t see very far. Tree tops and cities and faces that glow Footprints and ashes today and the next Popcorn and “Bingo” is all that they hear Smile and Surviving is all that they know. The paint is dripping down their old faces Wondering “Who, What and Where” might have been Knowing tomorrow by every dried eye “Step right up and try your hand at luck, boy” Had nothing, knew nothing, but all the same Paint on their smiles and “see you next year, kids!” The ferris wheel; their only saving grace On top of their world they can’t see very far.
