PINE CONES AND RIPPLES
Ever ventured 'bove timberline......
Some 11,000 feet above mountain pine?
Nestled by a stream, just below,
My little cottage, close to a meadow.
Secluded, cozy, coy, and modest.
Inside, my stone fireplace is the warmest,
Can you smell the heavenly pine......
Hear the silence, 'cept the ripples divine?
Ne'r a breeze, no wind whine.....
Snowflakes float, not fall, in the winter time.
Blue Spruce tower, Aspen stand proud
Your heart beat-- can be heard aloud!
Exquisite delight of Peace.....
Nature's bountiful blessings never cease!
Tiny, moss-thatched roof retreat....
Designed for two would be complete.
Elk and deer water near our stream,
Early risers quietly observe downstream.
Squirrels scamper near, tame, no fear.
Blue Jays and Cardinals nest each year.
Sunbeams dance on ripples,
Lovely melodious sounds of giggles
Sensibilities cultivate keenness,
N'er a negative word of meanness!
May I trade that heavenly promise,
For an earthly paradise precious?
A little log cabin made for two,
Hand- built with love for me and you.

Ah so beautiful and delightful.!
Reminds me of the country of my birth. Pine, ripples, mountain peaks, alpine huts, just about every one of your beautiful lines is a reminder of days gone by.
Heartsick and homesick just reading it.
Marvellous words and pictures.
Thanks for sharing -
Love and peace

A beautiful place and a wonderful feeling, pine cones and ripples indeed. I envy you your rich life and splendid experience. It is as I often do that I only wish I can reach as splendid a place in both life and poetic resonance that you have so far reached. This is a wonderful write that captures not only the beautiful place that is your mountain lodge but also your bountiful life experience there. A very skillful use of imagery and topical nuance. |
