You're Not Alone

Contributed by Neil on Monday, 25th April 2005 @ 08:25:31 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Turn your eyes from desperation
Look not upon its furrowed brow
Keep an arms length separation
For it will take all you allow

From broken hearts and broken lives
It comes to take your soul
And you will know when it arrives
You’ll feel it take its toll

It feeds upon your weakness
It knows your every fear
Shows you not, but bleakness
And drinks its fill of tears

Until your life is empty
In darkness, stumble on
To find the cliff of pity
Where you now stand alone

And cast your eyes to what’s below
To those that came before
The souls that desperation stole
That scream forever more

But, in this darkness, there is light
A speck, enough to see
For God has kept you in his sight
And waits to hear your plea

So, as you stand, given choice
Of pit of souls or throne
Listen to God’s calming voice
That says “you’re not alone”.
