I think of death not as the enemy, but as my friend.
Death touches my shoulder with his friendly hand,
making me want to surrender.
Surrender from my pain, hurt anger, and abuse. I feel
I have no one else to turn to.
Death takes my hand, I let out a sigh of relief and
watch as the razor cuts deep.
Death rocks me gently as I fall asleep, I see all my
life flash before my drooping eyes.
My family with their backs turned, my friends with
their canceled plans, men with their fisted hands.
My ears burn as the pain of what they say makes the
razor slash the other way.
"Sleep." he says to me, as my energy fades,
I close my eyes and drift away.

My Friend Death
