to some that may be true.
But those folks have probly never rode a horse,
one that's strong and true.

I have owned many horses,
and I loved them one and all.
But today my heart is broken,
before dawn I got the call.

The news received was tragic,
I could not fathom many things much worse.
I was 1,000 miles away
and could not say goodbye to my beloved horse.

But now she's roaming pastures,
which for eternity are always green and sweet.
And when I cross over Jordan,
she can carry me down those golden streets.

I know God made all creatures,
for man to reign o'er from birth til their end.
But He most certainly got it right,
for us with horses as our best friends. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 158 [topic] => 29 [informant] => BigBlueQ [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => PetPoems )

So very sad: (

I would be deeply distressed if I was away from one of my animal's when they died. So sorry you had to go through that. Horses are fine creatures, and you don't gain their trust easily, so a bond with one is special, no doubt. Nice poem.
