Array ( [sid] => 9162 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Garland of Lilies [time] => 2002-12-24 09:30:00 [hometext] => I wrote this poem after reading a Hymn of Rig Veda.It depicts some beautiful aspects of human imagination. [bodytext] => * * *

When she is descending down from Heaven

She has acquired the luster of stars and

Spread over to all quarters of the world.

When she spread over to all quarters, she has

Covered all beings of nature by her luster, and

Caused loss to the darkness of the earth

The goddess of night has accepted

The goddess of dawn as her sister and

Both chased away the darkness with their luster.

When the goddess of night kisses our eyes

Just as a bird in the nest we take our rest and

May the goddess be a benefactress to all beings!

These hamlets fall under the spell of silence

These beasts, birds and eagles are dreaming in a silent sleep

Even the hills, dales, trees and streams are quiet in silence.

O Night! Send those werewolves far away from us!

O Night! Send those thieves far away from us!

O Night! shall you be auspicious in a special way for us!

Here I see the darkness in her black sapphire attire

She is concealing many things from the view of my eyes

O Dawn! Clear all my debts and send her far away from me.

O Night! Maiden of the Heaven! Fare well to Thee!

As you are leaving this place, please accept my hymn.

As a beautiful garland of lilies to adorn thy lovely breast..

Beautiful description of dawn edging night out of view. " When the goddess of night kisses our eyes" I like the thought of that. Beautiful, just beautiful, Venkat. Peace to you.

very good write as usual venkat. sometimes the best inspiration is written and sometimes not, but the ones written from written inspiration are usually have more depth.
