Lust & Love

Contributed by sride686 on Sunday, 17th April 2005 @ 10:43:13 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

We met just once but never tried
To let love free from in side
We held it in because of fear
We held it in to keep it near
I held it in, in fear of lust
In fear of what I’d trust

Lust is week and lust is greed
It’s these two things I do not need
I lust for love and one that’s true
Right now I lust to be with you
It’s that lust for you that I fear
A lust I have that wants you here

But for now we have our space
Our time apart and our space to dream
Our time to think and our time to fear
Time to fantasize of having you here
For life’s a book we all must read
Learn to love and it will set you free

But is this love a love that’s true
Or just a lust of wanting you
For lusts not love and it’s not always true
So I pray this lust will find love for you
And I pray that, that love will be true
I hope that one day I’ll lust to love you.

That's a wonderful poem! You expressed your feelings well in this poem. I like your choice of vocabulary in it also. I know it's hard to distinguish the difference between lust and love. Lust is a false impression of love. I know i've experienced love before, it wasn't true between us, he just used me. He's out of my life though and I've moved on. It isn't too hard to tell the difference between those, unless someone tells you 'I love you' and just doesn't mean it. I wish you luck in finding out what it is... Jenny
