[hometext] => Seek and ye shall find? Not always true, I feel. This poem is about a thing best invited rather than sought.
[bodytext] => It is a drifting ghost, That lurks in realms, Beyond sight and touch. Look for it, and it is gone, Grasp for it, and like a mist it parts. It floats through others, Briefly pausing, Changing, and distorting, Then on in restless searching. But could this be, The same elusive spirit, Or just a pallid, jealous twin? And so I search, within, without, For traces of its touch, But find no evidence, In thought or deed. This endless questing, Drains the soul, And leaves me void of care. At last, bereft, I cease to look, And silently it slips, Into my heart to take its hold. I turn to look, And there it stands, Where always has it stood, And where I never thought to look. And now it warms my inner soul, This most elusive muse, Enveloping my beating heart. I dare not touch, Nor speak its name, For fear the weakness of the words, Will send it from me, never to return.
