and the fruits hang like corpses bloated on vines
better days had seen them luscious and firm
now so much fodder for the palates of flies

and ravens above blacken the silent trees
boughs bending down 'neath their pressing despair
feathers ruffled slighty by chill winds unseen
sweet summer flowers now tremble with fear

for long days they lingered in sleepy denial
denial , however , cannot stifle death
yet we too have whispered sweet lies of forever
but this eve shall find us 'neath wintry breath

tonight I shall wander in ghost trodden halls
with the sad looming shadows of yesterdays kisses
wandering , wondering if this poets heart
is being denied or granted its wishes

would the fruits be as sweet were they not fading?
would your soft summer eyes still be so sublime
if the vines of death were not germinating
and crawling intently up over our eyes

but out from the halls into the dying gardens
I'm carried to you by cold dampened winds
to seek the last warmth of our embering souls
as flowers we tremble beneath winter's hands [comments] => 4 [counter] => 184 [topic] => 22 [informant] => doug [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

That is, unfortunately, all that is going through my head at the moment, but there will be more when the words come forth, and are suitable to submit! Gorgeous. More soon. All my love. Forever,

Your stunned reader,

Stephy *who is still very much speechless*

Not only is this good (I bookmarked it to comment on) but the author comment is as poetic as the poem itself. Amazing combination of light and dark, life and love. I enjoyed the reading; even if I hope to not come to the same conclusion about life. Nice work! J.

Ah, I see I have marked this page already... Long ago, two years actually... Lots of life... But, I do believe I have the words now, although, they will probably be threadbare and pallid in comparison...

What I always find laced in your writing is a permeating scent of gothic beauty... This piece in particular made me think of an ancient cemetary with ruined epitaphs covered in moss and weeds... an ominous sky hovering above, a lone tree sitting glumly at the edge of the field, emaciated and nearly lifeless except for a few withering fruits... The flow throughout is impeccable, and it seems almost familiar... but there's something there that makes the reader question their logic... more than that, their own life and love... I think we all are trembling flowers beneath winter's hands at some point...

This is a relatable piece of genius, and as always, resonates with blinding talent. Bravo, my friend.... A standing ovation. Hopefully this comment was a tad bit better than the first, :P. *hugs* Peace and love, cheri. Thanks for sharing, and commenting on 'Eternal Communion', :D.

Always,

~Fleur
