Array ( [sid] => 90171 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => I am Sir Odd [time] => 2005-04-06 21:58:15 [hometext] => For those of you keeping score at home, Harrison 'Sir' Odd is one of my many alter-egos... You might meet the rest as I see fit to introduce them to you... and no, armour is NOT an incorrect spelling... [bodytext] => I'm not your ordinary knight,
One with armour,
Shining bright
But MY armour's full of holes
And rusty,
The result of many a fight.
I've never been much with a sword,
As the scars in my armour
Could tell you.
But I have no problem
Using a shield
Providing, of course,
I HAVE one
One of my gauntlets is missing
Hidden by Quagmire,
The troll living
Under the drawbridge
What good is a knight
With only partial armour?
'Tis a fair question,
I must admit...
Well, I'll tell you.
I know not.
You should ask my mistress.
I am in the everlasting service
Of the lovely maiden Mary.
But then, if anyone ever NEEDED me,
She is not that person
I am no use to her
Yet she would rather have
No knight other than me
Maybe she likes the color of rust?
She can defend herself
From anything,
She even protects me.
Why she lets me stay with her
Could not be less clear
She has me do menial chores,
That she could easily do herself,
But lets me not fend off dragons,
For fear I'll get hurt.
What am I here for?
Why does she need me?
I just feel so out of place.
I guess that's why I'm Odd.
But, at least it's SIR Odd.
I'm so CONFUSED! [comments] => 3 [counter] => 149 [topic] => 40 [informant] => sir_odd87 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => fantasy )

Well of course Armour is correct, and British spelling is usually preferable, to my mind.

A good piece. You express yourself well, and personally, I see nothing wrong and a lot right about communicating one's faults in poetry.

Keep writing.

Andrew

Perhaps you are there because 1) she wants you there and 2) you're happy there...it might be confusing, to be fully armed, and without a single "heroic" thing to do...but, is it such a bad thing if you want to be there?
