His Tears

Contributed by merry on Monday, 4th April 2005 @ 07:33:41 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Words fell like pebbles
Just ahead of our thoughts
I could hear the echoes
And knew what you would say
Before you said it
Hearts beat like wings
Sparrows in despair
Since our love weakened
A mist where once there was a storm
Unable to keep pretending
We try to walk away
Taking whatever comfort we can muster
Folding our belongings
Carefully avoiding each other’s eyes
The scent of love lingers here
In this corner where we slept
Two lovers blinded by necessity
To hold someone through the night
When our souls never did connect
Could not feel beyond our fingertips
Passion swelled and ebbed away
Leaving us tired of each other
Cloaked in grayness for three more days
You think crying will ease the pain
But only time will mend the tear
