I love you

I love you

“I love you,”
It’s just another, saying I hear,
Are your words truly sincere?

Like wilting roses, struggling to breathe,
Like a helpless vessel lost on a rolling green sea.
Winds of destruction, sweep everything from me.

Like a broken record that plays on and on,
I cherish words of the saddest song,
The heart that loved,
Even though it was wrong,
I still stood here remaining headstrong.

When darkness falls,
I‘m left alone once more,

Are you thinking about me?
Or are you just looking to score?

Like the warm sun rising in the pale blue sky,
A broken winged bird slowly relearning to fly,
A child whose kisses spring fresh tears to dry eyes,
Is it really our time to say our goodbyes?

I’m really tired of these sighs,
And of our endless tries.
Is it time to say our goodbyes?

-Karen Noll
