Bloody butterflies kiss my cheek,
And the winds whisper my fate...

I am the Fallen,
A desolate shadow,
Lurking in the corners of your mind,
Nothing more than an illusion,
How can you love something that does not exist?
What truth is there to find,
When everything is a lie?

Drowning in endless confusion,
I know not what to feel or think or say,
Emotions overwhelming me,
Why can't I just stay numb...

The touch of love is searing,
Pleasurable bliss,
A kiss is felt forever,
On parted yearning lips..
But what do you do,
When it all goes away?

Infinite torture,
That same feather like caress,
Teasing your flesh...
That same soft kiss,
Brushing your lips ever slightly...
And you can't help but think of your lover,
And the rains of sorrow fall from thine eyes once more...

Past recollections, always haunting, always daunting,
"You are nothing... No one cares..."
I'm starting to believe,
The blade pleads for my flesh,
Oh, I want to succumb,
How I wish to obey...

Yet, I stare at these scars of mine,
Laughing at me,
Ever teasing,
Whispering of release and joy,
When I know that there will only be pain afterwards...

So, I put it away,
In that same drawer,
Last one to the left,
And scold myself for never throwing it away...

It does not rule my life anymore,
HE is the Master no longer...
I made myself the slave,
And I am capable of freeing myself...

There are no hands to help me up,
No smiles of reassurance,
No arms to embrace and comfort...

I am alone,
And must walk this dark path alone,
With the little spark of hope that I have left,
Lighting my way...

Potent, Stephy... and this:

A kiss is felt forever

... will be very nearly too much to bear for anyone that is trying live past lost love. I suppose each must find their own way to do so. It is, I think, a terribly hard thing to do. This though, feels like a step forward... the journey is evident as is the difficulty. Forward progress... of any sort, of any size... is really a rather extraordinary thing to witness. Well done, Stephy!

Good grief this poem gave me chills. I was
held captive from the first line to the last line.
My favourite line was definitely, "And I am
capable of freeing myself." Cutting is an
addiction, but like any addiction it can be
beaten. This was such a great poem which I
will now go and read again.

In many ways we are alone, yet in many ways some of us do not realize, friends are right around the corner...Strength!
