[bodytext] => Look into a child’s eyes, See they are filled with tears “What if I should die tonight?” Is one of her greatest fears. For in her city, no night is silent And on the horizon, the sun has never set, The streets are colored crimson, Peace will never be met. A mother cries, “Don’t leave me!” “It is my duty,” is what he said. Soon she reads a letter, Her only son is dead. Another child taken, Another coffin laid, With the flag of freedom, And hopes that his memory will never fade. Sadness will overtake us. We cannot run or hide, It creeps into our hearts and lives, As we mourn for those who’ve died. Our men and women all fought bravely, But silently they fall. Please stop this foolish thing called war, Before it kills us all. All our tears flow For all the blood shed, For everything we’ve lost, And for the people dead. “They died for honor and duty.” This is what we think is right, But is any life ever worth This long and awful fight? Mothers are crying, Their children are dying, And bodies are lying A thousand miles from home. In the fight with war, No one ever wins.
