to a child,
the shade of a worn-down Crayola -
my favourite.
It is the vividness of the eyes
I stare into
before I fall asleep.
How I long for my child
to have those eyes.

Blue is a hue
to be medicated,slept off,
worked through.
It is the tinge
of my first true taste of freedom,
the stain
of a diary intercepted
and cheap adolescent war paint.
It is the flavour of my clouds
and the mood in the room
after a vehement fight.

Blue is the memory
of the jumpsuit I wore
in a childhood snapshot
and the facade I hid behind
at my father's funeral.
It is the complexion of the mountains
which loom
majestic and spirited
on the other side of my window.

Blue is the signal
that the heart has ceased
to beat. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 182 [topic] => 44 [informant] => ooniegirl [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Nostalgic )
