a truthful confession to all

Contributed by kymmers on Friday, 25th March 2005 @ 04:26:56 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

no need to be afraid of me...
it's the drug you should fear
the way it seeps through your vains
and tortures you with a
deadly addictive high.
still not convinced to stay away?
well try this on for size...
you think you know me,
but you don't.
it's all just a game.
I am not who you think I am...
You only know a drug that is
overtaking my innocent body
and while I think i'm having fun,
I'm really killing my true self
and becoming something else...
I am now just another victim...
a slave... a lost soul..
that is controlled by this drug.
so please...
don't fear me or get sickened by
what i can't control.
instead help me...love me... comfort me,
and give me hope and reason to
live as myself again.

interesting style and tone. one of the more original styles ive seen in a while. some verses just need to be rewritten or taken out, because they hold no purpose in the poem at all. your style stood out because it seems like you are talking to the reader as if you really are high on drugs with the tone, but most drug users deny they have a problem, so that negates that. but that is most, and not all. as for your concept at the end. what you always have had inside of you helps you, loves you, and comforts you, but many never find that part of themselves. my motto is that hope springs eternal like stupidity. live for tomorrow, today, and the past. there really is no reason to live in life, people just make reasons or find them....

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
