Once been hit, I land into deep water,.
I wait for assistance.
Land bombs ashore await me.
But I survive.
I make it.
The war was intense.
God didn't forsake me!
I was always in suspense.

Marrying my lover not much later.
We rush home after the war.
Working physically night and day.
Keeping bills at bay.
Like a robot I become.
-Hard yacka!-
Coming home blacker that the charcoal pit!
But I never quit!

Sportsman I become.
Loved a challange.
Broken bones,
never wore me down.
Friends tell me ..."Dan you never wear a frown!"

My children and my wife...
are all that matter to me.
They make me laugh but they leave home.
Now there's my lovely wife and me...!

Leaving the farm was what we planned.
Can't wait to get into thet house by the river...
Helping out on the blocks in friendship,
I get bitten by a bee, I quiver!

Blime me...my medication...
It's at home!
My neck is swelling up...
Help me please someone!!!
My life can't end now..
my wife will be all alone!
~~
The funeral was a huge one.
How could a man just -go?
By a sting of a bee,
after surviving the war.
God why was that ever so?
~~

You ask a very good question with this your poem Inoc. Why does someone go through a war unscathed and a simple thing in life can take him/her off. I will never understand life. Top marks for a good question. bernard
