Calm one minute, distraught the next
No buoy to mark the way
The breezes just seem to blow haphazardly
Where is the connection from for to aft?
I can navigate from one end of the ship to the other
But my thoughts and feelings are strangers to one another
Out of the confusion another storm brews
The wind howls harder and the sea becomes menacing
She paces aimlessly, as the storm frightens her
All those around take heed
I am in no mood for company
The storm intensifies into an angry raging sea
The blackened churning waters cascading over the boat
There is no help nearby as their location is quite remote
The angry waves with their foaming lather
Tower over the boat like giant gripping talons
Ready to grab a soul and heave it into the sea to drown
Finally the storm began to subside
And she slowly ventured outside
A bewildered look on her face
A horrible thought, am I going to alienate the whole human race?
Maybe I will just drown in my own sorrows
And the salty tears began to flow
Then finally the seas became calm [comments] => 7 [counter] => 157 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Wow, I love the metaphore you use with this, very creative and original, I would never have thought to use the sea..

This is a rally good poem, I am sorry I can't really suggest anything to help you.

Terry I honestly believe that in an attempt to capture the subject matter effectively, it needed to bounce as it does ... 1st to 3rd person and back ... from sea to boat to world ... as would a manic episode. The pinnacle of power and emotion to cascading calmness of tears, is something that those who know can fully comprehend. Well done sir, very well done.

Bewildering, yes. As bewildering as these episodes are to those observing bipolar disorder they are just as confusing to the one who has them. A good write of the inside of such episodes. Cheers!

my favorite part,
"I can navigate from one end of the ship to the other
But my thoughts and feelings are strangers to one another"

excellent piece, it was different than most of yours. i think this is perfect as it is, no suggestions.
