felt pain so horrible, I didn't think I could
heard stories of of unfair, undeserved suffering
But place judgement on you? I never would

Don't expect me to believe in your christian God
Not that naive, I'm too cynical to be
I have my own beliefs and my own reasons
I won't let you asses me, I don't care if you agree

As one whose grown up neither jaded nor ignorant
not removed from, nor enveloped by despair
I'll tell you I believe in something bigger, something higher
although I will not waste my time on prayer

I believe because if not, where would you or I be?
there must be a point to living this life
Would not death be easier, to end all the suffering,
to bleed it all out by the edge of a knife?

I feel I must believe, even as women are battered
and while children go without a home
even though in this world the innocent suffer
this world where the villains are free to roam

this is no story book fantasy, no tale
no hero to arrive at the end in his glory
the most bitter part of living today
is knowing that I can never change history

With the knowledge that the past is untouchable
that even if I died it would always remain
I need to believe and push forward, to have spirit
to have faith that I don't live this life in vain

And I hold close a constant hope for the future
because I know I can change what happens here
I will live with memories of sadness forever
but as my happiness grows, I will hold them near

Great spiritual right. The question I've been asking lately is how do we know we're right? How do we know God is real? It may really be Buddha or Allah or something like that. How do we truly know? We don't, but humans need something to believe in. That is what keeps some of them going. Overall though, a good write. Keep it up
